Temenos signs Mauritius Commercial Bank to T24

Mauritius Commercial Bank (MCB) is implementing the T24 modular core banking platform from Swiss vendor Temenos to support its corporate and retail operations.

The Temenos platform will replace MCB's legacy system and support 42 branches, 130 ATMs and approximately one million customer accounts based in Mauritius, Rodrigues and the bank's international operations.

T24 will be jointly implemented by Temenos and MCB on a Unix platform and Oracle database. The platform is expected to go live in the first quarter of 2009.

Antony Withers, chief executive at MCB, says the bank wanted a platform that could support all of its operations and be implemented quickly and with minimum risk.

"As well as allowing us to place our customers at the centre of our business, T24 will provide new features across our remote channels and ensure that we can roll out new and innovative products to the market quickly and effectively," says Withers.

Temenos says MCB chose its technology over systems from five other vendors, including Infosys.

Andrew Heathcote-Marks, CIO, MCB, says: "In the final analysis we found the T24 solution more suitable to MCB's requirements as it is a flexible, parameter-driven system that will allow us to benefit from Temenos' regular upgrade releases."
