CSC acquires Italian banking systems vendor

California-based Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) has acquired banking systems vendor InfoSer SpA of Milan, Italy, in an all-cash transaction. Financial details have not been disclosed.

InfoSer specialises in providing IT systems integration, implementation and maintenance services, application consulting and software products to the Italian banking market. The company's clients include SanPaolo-IMI, Banca Nazionale del Lavoro, Banca di Roma, Gruppo Banca Intesa, Deutsche Bank and Gruppo Unicredito. InfoSer had revenues of approximately $14 million for the year ended December 2000.

InfoSer's principals, Adriano Baiguini, Simona Ceccherini, Paolo Gazzotti and Beniamino Martin, will remain with the company and will report to Daniele Carboni, president of CSC's Italian operations.

CSC recently acquired two other Italian IT firms, Informatica and Progres and now has more than 2000 IT professionals in offices in Milan, Turin, Florence, Padua, Rome, Bologna and Ravenna.
