Reuters has launched a multimedia Internet news publication for syndication to Russian speaking audiences throughout the world.

Reuters Web clients who subscribe to the service - dubbed Reuters Russian Online Reports - will be able to offer their readers prioritised multimedia news written in Russian in a number of categories including top world news, business, sport, people and entertainment (featuring fashion, human interest stories and entertainment news). The stories, linked pictures and Web graphics are provided in a top ten format and updated in realtime by the Reuters Russian Online Desk.

The product is delivered over the Internet in Extensible Mark-up Language (XML) with text encoded in Unicode. Web publishers can choose to display the content using their own XML style sheets or via a display template supplied by Reuters.

Reuters currently produces Online Reports from 22 desks around the world in 12 languages including English, French, German, Spanish, Arabic and now Russian.
