Fortis Bank selects Telerate data distribution products

Benelux-based Fortis Bank is implementing Telerate's market data distribution platform, TRS, and desktop display application, Active8, across its dealing rooms in Amsterdam, Brussels and Luxembourg.

The TRS technology will be used to implement hubs in Brussels and in Woerden, Netherlands that will manage the bank's entire market data infrastructure.

The implementation is part of a two-year initiative by the bank to move its mission-critical dealing room operations to a single platform and to rationalise its market data infrastructure.

Carlos del Marmol, global coordinator of Fortis's market data competence centre, says: "As a single platform for the market data distribution throughout the Fortis Bank Benelux organisation including dealing room operations, the TRS infrastructure delivers a very efficient solution for our most performance-critical business needs.

"TRS allows us to exchange internally generated information between the three countries and to interface to any data vendor."

Fortis will roll out around Telerate's Active8 system to 700 positions across its Benelux trading rooms to replace its existing Kobra front-ends and Channel applications, as well as stand-alone Active8 systems.

The bank says about 15 third-party and internal applications will be migrated to TRS, in addition to the Active8 standalone systems.

The technology will be delivered and supported by Netherlands-based MarketXS, Telerate's distributor in Benelux.
