Siemens Business Services has won a three-year, EUR15 million IT support outsourcing deal with Caixa Geral de Depositos, the largest bank in Portugal.
Under the contract, Siemens will provide support for the IT infrastructure of CGD at all bank sites in Portugal for a period of three years, including the insurance company Fidelidade Mundial. The order covers some 19,000 computer workstations and 2000 servers.
The CGD Group is the largest financial services business in Portugal, with 1200 sites on the Portuguese mainland and islands. Siemens Business Services will provide support for the computers, printers, scanners and software of all employees and for the company servers.
In addition, the IT service provider will also run a central helpdesk, and provide monitoring and diagnostic services for the CGD corporate network infrastructure, tracking potential errors with a view to identifying them before any damage is caused.
