Royal & SunAlliance backs Autonomy

Editorial

The enterprise phase of the rollout will use Autonomy to aggregate, categorise, personalise and deliver information to support business decisions across the organisation, from many disparate data sources, including office documents, Web pages, intranet content, newsfeeds, e-mails, and presentations. The B2B element of the agreement will enable Royal & SunAlliance to automatically link related products and services together, and deliver offers based on users' interests.

Autonomy was previously deployed by Royal & SunAlliance in a separate implementation to power Usecolor.com - an online service for UK SMEs offering practical help and solutions to everyday business problems.

At the heart of Autonomy's software is its ability to analyse a piece of text (in any language) and identify and rank the main concepts within it. It can then automatically categorise, link, personalise and deliver that information, the company says.
