The product enables financial services firms to automate the online authentication process by using customer data contained in IP addresses.

The Fraud Analyst system uses a customer's IP address to uncover more than a dozen data elements including location, anonymous proxies and domain name. The product then screens this data in real time against customer-supplied information to detect inconsistencies. Suspicious transactions are flagged and the reasons displayed.

David Helsper, Digital Envoy's vice president of engineering, comments: "Our new Fraud Analyst product provides an intuitive, customisable, rules-based platform that simplifies online fraud analysis and allows for quick decision making about suspect transactions."

Digital Envoy says the new product acts as a first line of defence and breaks the anonymity barriers associated with the Internet by uncovering previously unavailable information about online users.
