Thomson Financial has acquired UK-based IR Webcasting outfit RAW Communications.
RAW, which broadcasts corporate events and analyst's morning meetings to the investment community, serves approximately half of the FTSE 100 companies and is one of the leading providers of IR Webcasting services in France, Italy and the Nordic region.
Investors in the business, established by former FT journalists in 1998, include 3i, Providence Equity Partners and Intel. Financial terms of the sale were not disclosed, but it is unlikely Thomson paid anywhere near RAW's £1 billion dotcom valuation.
Donal Smith, chief operating officer, Europe, Thomson Financial, says: "RAW Communications' Webcasting services to the corporate and sell-side communities, combined with Thomson First Call and the activities of the recently acquired CCBN business, such as Thomson StreetEvent, will facilitate more direct and efficient communications between corporations, the buy-side and the sell-side."
