NCR to open ATM factory in Brazil

NCR is opening an ATM manufacturing and engineering facility in Sao Paulo, Brazil.

The new facilities will be geared to meet the needs of the Brazilian ATM market - the third largest in the world. ATM components will be supplied by local manufacturers.

NCR will initially employ between 75 and 100 staff at the facilities, but isays it expects this number to increase as the market continues to grow.

The Sao Paulo manufacturing plant will be NCR's fifth ATM factory worldwide, with an annual capacity of up to 7000 units.

Keith Taylor, SVP of NCR's financial solutions division, says the firm has targeted Brazil as a growth market for its self-service products: "Developing our own facilities gives us the competitive advantage of a dedicated, skilled workforce that can provide Brazil-specific solutions to customers in this important market."

The vendor says it has made an initial investment of "several million dollars" in the new facility.
