The AmeriVault's technology automatically recognises block changes within files, then encrypts the compressed data before pushing it via the Internet to secure mass storage vaults. Restoration can be readily accomplished from an internal or remote desktop.

Rob Martens, vice president, strategic alliance development at KeyBank says the move into data backup is a natural extension of the bank's business critical corporate banking service. "This alliance serves to protect our clients' assets, just as banks have done for centuries."

He points to US Bureau of Labour statistics that indicate that 93% of companies that experience a significant data loss are out of business within five years.

The new service is available immediately as a part of KeyGuide, a suite of e-business products and services including electronic invoice presentment and payment, enterprise resource planning, and document management.
