Ubicco (www.ubicco.com), the mobile Internet subsidiary of the Fi System Group, is to handle the integration and hosting of WAP services for Morocco's Credit du Maroc, a subsidiary of Credit Lyonnais.
The bank will use Ubicco's wireless Internet platform MoViE, to provide customers with any time anywhere access to recent transactions, current account balances and share portfolio statements, as well as news and prices from the Casablanca stock exchange.
In North Africa, the number of mobile phone users exceeds the number of those using fixed telephones. Penetration of handheld phones far outstrips PCs among the general population.
Credit du Maroc, which introduced its first Web site just over two years ago, says the new mobile facility will be available by the end of July 2000.
