The investment division of T. Rowe Price is to outsource the management of its operational software infrastructure to Sybase in a five-year deal.
At T. Rowe Price, Sybase's Remote Enterprise Management Outsourcing (Remo) services will be deployed in the managmenet of the investment division's data management systems, which includes Sybase database technology and Microsoft SQL Server systems.
Doren Jacobs, vice president, T. Rowe Price Investment Technologies, says the firm opted to outsource following a successful Remo pilot programme in the summer.
"Sybase brought new tools, highly skilled people and improved processes to help solve the problems we faced managing a multi-vendor data center infrastructure, and to improve our overall database performance," she says. "Remo has enabled us to focus more of our efforts on future developmental activities rather than on the maintenance of our existing systems."
The Remo support service includes monitoring, alerting, reporting, problem resolution, performance management and day-to-day production administration including data collection, a common alerting console, a historical data store, and reporting.
