The Exchange will use VDF to deliver master data and corporate action data in a structured, encoded form as well as reference data and forex data (including historical data).

The LSE's planned extension of the Sedol numbering system has been identified by industry trade groups as a viable option for the development of a unique instrument identifier code for reference data and straight-through processing purposes.

Karen Young, head of business development, information services at the LSE, says: "The Exchange regards its enhanced Sedol service as the first step in developing a reference data business – Telekurs' VDF product was chosen for its reputation of delivering high quality global data."
