Merrill Lynch implements Microsoft technology for research platform

Merrill Lynch has begun building its next-generation RixML-based Research Analyst Workbench using Microsoft technology.

The workbench will be developed using Microsoft Office 2003, Sharepoint Portal Server, Windows 2003 Server Enterprise Edition, Internet Explorer and SQL 2000.

The bank is also working with Dell and Satyam Computer Systems to develop the platform, which will manage research creation, product workflow and client distribution and comply with interoperable industry standards such as Research Information eXchange Markup Language (RixML).

Aron Miodownik, COO, global securities research and economics, Merrill Lynch, says the system "will provide Merrill Lynch's analysts' with a more flexible, and truly global technology platform for creating innovative and insightful research for our clients, across asset-classes and geographies".
