QIC implements Charles River investment management system

Australian wholesale fund manager QIC is implementing Charles River Development's investment management system (IMS) to support its global equity, fixed interest, foreign exchange and derivatives dealing operations.

Charles River IMS is an integrated front and middle office system featuring portfolio management, trading and real-time compliance applications.

QIC has completed implementation of Charles River's compliance software and began conducting compliance monitoring across all asset classes in September.

Gerard Ruddy, head of corporate projects at QIC, says: "We are running an average of 700 compliance rules across 130 portfolios. The Charles River system allows us to reference over 12,000 positions on 4000 securities from 2000 issuers, without major incident, every day."

The compliance phase of the implementation included interfaces from Eagle Investment System's Pace data warehouse, for the import of position, security, classification, rating, and other data into IMS.

The portfolio management and trading applications will be deployed across the organisation in phases by asset class, beginning with fixed interest trading in late November.
