Jeronimo acquires CCV-CardPay

Jeronimo, a Switzerland-based provider of eftpos terminals, has acquired Dutch electronic payments software firm CCV-CardPay - a supplier of VeriFone products - for an undisclosed sum.

Under the terms of the deal, the Dutch-based CCV group will become a majority shareholder in Jeronimo. Both companies will continue to operate under their respective names.

CardPay director Michael Hartmann will manage CCV-CardPay in Glattbrugg, Switzerland. He says: "This combination of the two players in the Swiss market provides CardPay with complete national reach."

The acquisition makes Jeronimo the second biggest supplier of card payment solutions in the Swiss market with nearly 15,000 installed terminals. Jean-Marc Fillistorf, director and co-founder of Jeronimo, will head the firm's new Swiss division. He says the acquisition provides a major opportunity for Jeronimo to lead the Swiss market.

As a result of the deal, VeriFone's range of products will be made available to new customers across Switzerland, including the Omni 3740 and the SC 5000 smart programmable PINpad, which have trialled in a Zurich pilot as part of ep2, a joint project by acquirers to implement EMV payment standards across the country.
