ING challenges graduate bankers to ditch the jargon

11 January 2013  |  6363 views  |  0 ING bank branch

The careers office at ING Bank has launched a social media campaign challenging the next generation of bankers to explain complex financial products to a demanding audience of pre-teen children.

The bank is calling on students from around the globe to join the contest by responding to a series of questions placed by children aged between seven and ten on ING Careers Facebook page.

Every week the children will reveal a new question in the form of a short video. Prospective banking candidates are challenged to submit a clear and transparent answer that even children can understand.

Koos Timmermans, vice chairman of ING says: "The ability to explain complex financial issues in a very clear and transparent way helps strengthen trust with our customers, which is a prerequisite for a sustainable and financially healthy future. We look forward to gaining new insights and entering into a dialogue with the contributors of the most inspiring submissions."

The campaign will run for five weeks in several countries, including Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, Poland, Turkey and Romania. The best answers will be compiled and used to produce a short book about banking for small children.
