Some Interesting Applications Of The Internet Of Things Technology

Top app development companies in India are already working assiduously to take full advantage of Internet of things when the technology takes off. As an organization, when you hire one of the top app development companies in India to apply the internet of things technology to your business, you stand to gain a lot. Apart from additional streams of revenue, you also gain business efficiency, and a drastic reduction in operating cost.

Here is a list of examples of how top app development companies in India have applied the internet of things technology in some industries.

Smart home application

One of the top app development companies in this niche is Nest. By introducing several smart devices like alarms, indoor cameras, and thermostat, the company helps you manage your home more easily. The thermostat learns your preferred home temperature and humidity level and as such, it automatically switches your HVAC and humidifier to your preferred level once you arrive home.

Immediately the last person in your household leaves home, the smart system will switch off all the necessary appliances and only switch them on when at least one person comes back. According to one of the top app development companies in India that developed it, apart from making your home more comfortable, it will also so save your energy cost.

Companies that manufacture security systems now partner with top app development companies in India to build an app for their security system. Once you install the app on your smartphone, you will be notified immediately of any intrusion in any of your properties from wherever you are. Some systems send only the pictures of the intruder while others send the video. This will enable you swing into action immediately.

Smart microwave

Another interesting application of IoT technology is in smart microwave that comes with its app. The most striking feature about this oven is that you can control it even if you are not at home. For instance, while leaving home in the morning, you can put your lunch or supper in the oven. When you are on your way home in the evening, you can now switch on the microwave and set the time to make it tally with your arrival.

That way, you won’t need to wait a minute before you start eating. Another smart function of the oven is that, when your food is done, it sends you a signal and you will receive it on your smartphone.

Smart TV set

What a lot of people know about smart TV is that videos can be streamed directly to it from the internet. Most people do not understand that you can control it from its app even when you are not at home. From your location, you can monitor the channels that your kids are watching and you can even change it if you find out that they are watching an adult channel.

Apart from the smart TV, there are smart lawn mowers that you can control while you are indoors. There are smart air conditioning units too.

Healthcare and fitness application

There are several wearables in the market now that work on IoT. There are Misfit, Jawbone, Samsung, and Apple wearables. These wearables come with their own apps through which they communicate with the users on the progress of their fitness programs.

For instance, if you are working out to cut down your weight, you will be getting regular alerts on the amount of weight you have been able to shed. This will definitely motivate you to further intensify your efforts. Apart from the amount of weight you have shed, you will also get several other important statistics about your progress. Some of these apps can be linked to your social media account for ease of sharing and advertisement.

Once your friends and followers see such statistics, some of them will be attracted to the particular wearable because they also want their own information shared too.

In addition, there are some other apps paired with the certain health devices that send important information to the family members of a patient or his caregiver. This updates them on the progress of any treatment. When a particular medication is skipped, the apps will notify the caregivers.

Pet safety

There are some GPS tags that you can wear on your pet to enable you track its position. It prevents your pet from getting lost. Most of them work within 200-foot radius. They notify you of the location of your pet within the 200-foot radius range. And immediately the pet leaves the range, you will be notified so that you can quickly locate it.

If your pet has been lost, you will be notified once it gets within the 200-foot radius range so that you can quickly locate it. You can also register your pet’s profile on the platform for pets within your community. This will make it easy for other community members to easily recognize it if it gets lost.

Automotive application of IoT

Right now, the whole world is anxiously awaiting the arrival of the much anticipated self-driven, robot, or smart cars. These cars do not need any driver. You only need to get into the car and indicate your destination and that’s all. The car will not only take you there, it will also notify you when it gets to your destination.

The car is expected to read traffic signs with the aid of sensors. Apart from that, it will also communicate with other cars so that it can reduce its speed when it is approaching another car. In fact, normal conventional cars also enjoy some IoT applications too. You can start some cars even before you get out of your apartment and some cars only need your thumb to start. All these are IoT applications.

Agricultural application of IoT

This is about the most obscure IoT application but it is worthy of mention. Some apps use the weather condition for automatic irrigation system. They water your crops less when there is enough rain and they water them more when there is little or no rain. Apart from that, these apps also monitor other weather conditions. And they notify the users when there is any unfavorable condition.

Application of IoT to logistics

Some tags with embedded chips are attached to parcels through which the parcels are tracked. At every given time, the chip will give the exact location and condition of the parcel on request.

In conclusion, there are other applications of IoT apart from the ones listed above and many more are in progress.

Some of these uses cases are coming from M2M and RFID implementation and getting new cloathes in the form IoT framework.

Forexample

1. PET tracking was the few first Active RFID tag implementations used for tracking animals in large areas of safari/forest and measuring it's life and also help in medical treatment. ( Now few clubs in europe use it for it's elite customer to remain anonyomous on it's arrival and can make payments using such micro chip - despite few oppose it as being treated like animal :) ).

same is the case of

2. Telemetry(M2M) for vechile tracking using Black box (Started in Belgium by BMW to reduce Insurance Premium and find authenticated vehicle data) now gets into IoT story by EUROTECH's IoT offerings.

@Dharmesh, you can look at such cases as incentive to Insurance company as well as automobile OEMs. Another example - IoT platform to track customer's valuables as additional service from Mobile banking app or net banking access. (Ofcourse at present banks in India needs KYE platform - Know your Employee :) )

Most of the IoT implementations overlook critical factor of TCO/ROI calculation, end user benefits which can make good implementation.

Last year, we designed cloud based liquor ordering system using IoT to measure correct quantity and correct liquor for each customer order, defying  around 10 to 12 common ways adulteration of liquor. It was proved to save dollars at the same time gives different customer experience all together.

Thanks @hitesh, payments is a no-brainer in IOT. IOT for insurance is also well discussed, bt how about in banking? Only close example is Alpha Bank in Russia with a fitness app tied to an account (the more you step the more you save).

There is also Klever Kash, a digital savings box... but what else?

@Dharmesh, Industry/vendors have been proposing several models not only for IoT but also for digital banking but, bankers mostly busy finding ways opening more account ( to get more deposit) and more ways to lend !!!
