Global Financial Information Exchange (FIX) provider Cameron Systems today announced the release of the CameronFIX SEATS (Stock Exchange Automated Trading System) Interface and Market Mirror enabling reliable, robust, fast and 100% standard FIX connection to the Australian Stock Exchange equity market (ASX).

The CameronFIX SEATS Interface, one module from the Cameron Systems Direct Market Access (DMA) Architecture, enables ASX Broker counterparties to interface with the ASX trading platform using the FIX messaging standard; the Financial Information Exchange protocol. The SEATS Interface is an advanced module, which works with Cameron Systems FIX Engine to enable FIX messaging to interact with SEATS execution on the Australian Stock Exchange. The Interface has been placed in production with Citigroup Australia to provide international clients with FIX direct market trading access to the ASX. Citigroup also deployed the Cameron Systems Market Mirror to keep track of DMA orders in the market.

The CameronFIX SEATS Interface provides fast, completely standard FIX connections whilst supporting and handling complex SEATS operations. One example is upward quantity amendments that require the introduction of split orders on SEATS. The Interface supports load balancing across multiple SEATS gateways to service multiple FIX clients simultaneously.

"With FIX increasingly recognized as the global standard for securities trading we welcome Cameron Systems timely development of the CameronFIX SEATS Interface for enabling external counterparties using FIX connection to the ASX," said Michael Roach, EGM Market Services, Australian Stock Exchange.

"Direct Market Access using FIX is the future. We are delivering that capability now to ASX Members with our robust, high speed FIX access to the market," said Cameron Systems Founder and Chief Technology Officer John Cameron. "Many members already use off the shelf systems that natively talk FIX. In addition, in-house proprietary systems can be made future proof by converting them to standard FIX. Providing FIX DMA is a strategic direction for us and the SEATS Interface and Market Mirror are important additions to that suite of solutions."

John Cameron's knowledge of the ASX' trading system goes back to 1987 when he was a member of the original development team that wrote SEATS.

ASX's Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Colin Scully, added his support. "I am pleased to see John Cameron's ongoing involvement in trading platform development. He made significant contributions both, as a member of the original SEATS development team and subsequently in options trading systems developments. This initiative continues his successful involvement with ASX."

The CameronFIX SEATS Interface comes as an add-on option to the proven CameronFIX Universal Server, version 6.1.
