The new agreement between the two companies is in addition to an existing 10 year outsourcing contract for data centre operations and technical support for Royal & SunAlliance's mainframe platforms, as well as wide-area network management.

Under the new deal, ACS will provide Royal & SunAlliance USA with telecommunication services including management of access charges, billing, voice and data services, circuit maintenance and vendor management. ACS will also re-negotiate the firm's carrier services contracts.

Chris Heeley, Royal & SunAlliance's chief technology officer, says: "The ACS solution for Royal & SunAlliance has improved both the effectiveness and efficiency of our operation."
