Brief: Barclays readies Spanish ATMs for euro

Barclays Bank has selected Diebold to provide new cash machines for selected branches and off-premises locations throughout Spain. The order is part of a Europe-wide initiative by the UK bank to update its ATM network for the launch of the single currency.

Barclays has placed an order with Diebold for over sixty-five new ATMs which will be used to dispense the new European currency from the first moment of circulation on 1 January, 2002, as well as provide balances, and reload mobile phone cards and electronic purse devices.
