Algorithmics teams with DataSynapse for grid-enabled version of Algo Suite

Toronto-based risk software vendor Algorithmics is to incorporate DataSynapse's GridServer application infrastructure software with the Linux version of its Algo Suite 4.4.

The companies have signed an OEM agreement, which also outlines details concerning front line support, joint sales and marketing activities, as well as joint technical collaboration for the Linux and grid computing system in the coming months.

The firms say that in combination, Algo Suite 4.4 on Data Synapse GridServer allows users to split modelling tasks across multiple machines and provide an upgrade path to lower-cost Intel-based Linux deployment.

Frank Cicio, chief marketing and strategy officer, DataSynapse, says: "As financial institutions seek to radically reduce costs while simultaneously improving business performance, we believe the grid-enabled version of Algo Suite will deliver substantial benefits."

Algorithmics says it has already piloted the grid-enabled system with various clients.
