Portuguese interbank processor selects Clear2Pay for outsourced payments

Sibs Processos, part of Portuguese interbank processor Sibs Group, will be implementing Clear2Pay's Open Payment Framework as the core technology for its payment hub project that will offer outsourced payment processing services to banks.

Logica and RTM partner to deliver hosted AML solution to Brazilian banks

Logica has announced a partnership with Rede de Telecomunicações para o Mercado (RTM), the largest financial services extranet in Brazil, to supply its payments filtering product, HotScan. Two banks have already begun using the RTM-hosted HotScan to comply with the Combating Terrorist Financing (CTF) regulation that came into effect in March 2009.

Faster Payments slow so far, but business cases for banks emerging

VocaLink and PricewaterhouseCoopers have published a detailed research report into the UK Faster Payments Service. The scheme has processed 262 million payments since going live on May 2008 - lower than originally projected by this stage - but by 2018, the targeted end-date for cheques in the UK, the Payments Council estimates that annual volumes could reach as high as 2.51 billion.

SmartStream launches new division to deliver trade processing and data utilities

SmartStream's new DClear Utilities division, launched at Sibos in Hong Kong, aims to serve financial institutions using a shared service centre model for common processing services. The DClear Reference Data Management Utility is the first such utility to be launched and the company says it has already signed an un-named US-based financial institution.
