Ingenico (Euronext : FR0000125346 - ING), leading worldwide provider of payment solutions, today announced that its latest iWL25o 3G mobile payment terminals will become the first 3G terminals to be installed in Europe.

Luottokunta, Finland's leading card service provider serving more than 100,000 merchants, has agreed a deal with Ingenico which will see the business install up to 10,000 3G terminals over the next two years.

Built on Ingenico's industry leading Telium2 architecture, the iWL250 3G represents the smallest and most lightweight secure mobile payment device on the market today. With 3G connectivity and colour screen option, the iWL250 3G provides merchants with convenience to engage customers anywhere and accept payments on the move, quickly and securely. The device accepts all forms of electronic payments, including magnetic stripe, EMV contact and contactless, and mobile wallet (NFC-based) transactions. Specifically designed for mobility, the device is equipped with the most advanced features and cellular technology, which makes it ideal for various use cases like home delivery, restaurants, sporting events, field services, and other mobile payment venues.

Sami Toivonen, Head of Sales for Luottokunta Terminal Division, said: The capability to switch between GPRS and 3G depending on the network conditions provides Ingenico's solution with a unique selling point over its competitors. At a major sports event, for example, where many terminals are all sharing GPRS bandwith, the system would normally face difficulties in processing all the transactions. However, the versatility of being able to switch between 3G and GPRS prevents this problem".

Cillian Wright, Sales and Marketing Director, Ingenico Northern Europe, commented: Mobile technology has changed almost every aspect of our daily lives including how consumers integrate and shop for products. Adoption of mobile payment technology to harness this evolution can create customer loyalty, keep the checkout lines clear, and take payment beyond the brick and mortar storefront. Ingenico's iWL250 3G will help Luottokunta and its customers stay ahead of the game when it comes to meeting customer demands and delivering real business benefits through a superior 3G payment solution."
