Chase announced today it is putting its distinctive blue octagon logo on Walgreens drugstores across Texas, adding 423 additional in-store ATMs from Houston to El Paso.

The additional ATMs expand Chase's statewide ATM network to 1,263 machines. Chase already had 840 ATMs across the state, including 53 cash machines inside Walgreens stores in Dallas and Austin. The new agreement will increase Chase's Walgreens locations to 476 stores across Texas.

Chase has begun the installations and will complete the effort by the end of 2007. When all installations are completed, Chase will have the most ATMs in Houston and Dallas.

"We are teaming up with Texas' leading drugstore to create 423 more ways to serve our customers," said Alice Rodriguez, a regional manager for Chase branches in Texas. "Both Chase and Walgreens know how important convenience is to our customers."

The multiyear branding agreement with Cardtronics, which owns and operates the ATMs, will put the Chase logo on ATMs in the following markets:
  • Houston, 212 ATMs
  • Dallas, 87 ATMs
  • San Antonio, 49 ATMs
  • Austin, 34 ATMs
  • El Paso, 22 ATMs
  • Rio Grande Valley, 11 ATMs
  • Corpus Christi, 8 ATMs

"Adding the respected Chase brand to the ATMs in Walgreens is likely to increase usage," said Keith Myers, executive vice president of financial services for Cardtronics. "Consumers notice and respond to strong brands."

The additional ATMs will expand Chase's long-standing relationship with Walgreens to more than 1,800 ATMs in Illinois, Florida, Arizona, Colorado, Louisiana, Indiana, Wisconsin, Utah and Ohio as well as Texas.

Chase is the largest banking institution in Texas, with more than 19,500 employees working in the state. There are 435 Chase branches in Texas.
