The MBNA Wallet, powered by MasterPass, has been launched initially as a pilot to MBNA employees with a full roll out to cardholders expected in 2015.

MasterPass allows customers to to securely store card information from multiple plastic cards, loyalty scheme details and postal addresses into a single digital wallet. The scheme was initially launched in the UK in summer 2013.

In November, Worldpay enabled over 20,000 small and medium sized UK online businesses to accept transactions via MasterPass. This compliments 6000 existing sites in the UK which already use the marque, including large retailers such as Currys and PC World.

Michael Donald, commercial and customer experience executive for MBNA says: "Having an MBNA Wallet will remove the need for our customers to input their card details every time they make a payment while knowing that, since the transaction is routed through our systems, that it is safe and secure.”
