A little short? Sainsbury's ATM built 15 inches off the ground

An ATM outside of a supermarket in Nottingham has been installed just 15 inches off the ground, requiring locals to squat or kneel for their cash.

Sainsbury's says that the machine was installed at the unusual height because it is located on a hill and that there have been no complaints from customers.

Nevertheless, the supermarket is considering moving the ATM, thought to be Britain's lowest.

The machine drew interest after a photo was posted on Facebook by Steve Drury, who told the Daily Mail: "I couldn't believe it. It was just so low to the ground and a man using it was squatting to try to get his money out.

"The poor guy must have done his back in. It looked incredibly uncomfortable."

This is great news for shoulder surfers.

Having driven past this ATM I can report it is inded on a hill on the outisde, but not on the inside of the store. A fine example to show that User Acceptance Testing should include actual users.

Isn't there a theft issue here too? It'll be very easy for someone to wait until the cash is dispensed then give the individual removing the cash a slight nudge to knock them off balance, steal the cash and do a runner?
