IZettle, the popular mini chip-card reader and app that turns an iPhone or iPad into a mobile credit card payment terminal is now able to accept American Express throughout Sweden and Finland, in addition to MasterCard, Visa and Diners Club.

"We're proud to work with a world-class company and brand like American Express," said Jacob de Geer, iZettle CEO and co-founder. "Partners like American Express open new sales opportunities for our users and will enable us to do great things around the world."

iZettle let's anyone take credit or debit chip-card payments anytime, anywhere. It's super simple to set up and use, and makes it easy to share purchases with friends on Facebook.

"I am delighted to announce the signing of iZettle," said Werner Decker, Senior Vice President, American Express Merchant Services Europe. "Sole traders and mobile merchants in Sweden and Finland using iZettle can now offer their customers greater payment choice. In addition, our Cardmembers can now use their American Express Cards to pay for products and services from merchants who earlier didn't have a solution to accept cards."

iZettle is approved by EMV, a global standard for interoperability, and compliant with the Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS). No sensitive data is stored on the mobile device or iZettle reader, and all data traffic is encrypted.

Unlike costly traditional point of sale card readers, there is no set up fee or lengthy sign up processes with iZettle. Instead, iZettle owners pay only a small fee for each transaction and percent of the sale. iZettle then electronically deposits the balance of each payment in the seller's bank account the business day following transactions.
