The 2009 season is almost upon us, with the first Grand Prix this coming weekend in Australia (Sunday 29th, 0700 BST).

Already there's controversy with back tracking by the FIA with regards to the "Winner takes all" points system proposal. The change to the scoring would have meant the driver with the most wins secures the title (as opposed to the driver with the most points). This led to a lot of protest from the drivers so the plans have been shelved for a year.

To encourage a bit of friendly banter and competitiveness we have started up a Forumula One Fantasy Grand Prix. We've set up a mini league at Profantasy F1 2009. To join us go to http://www.profantasyf1.com/?page=register and pick your team then use the ‘mini league admin' option to join the Finextra mini league.

In the spirit of Formula One at the end of the season the winner will receive a bottle of champagne courtesy of Finextra. (Drink it, don't shower your competitors in it!).
