Perot Systems Corporation (NYSE: PER) today announced at a news conference in Chennai, India plans to expand its resources and facilities in India to a fourth city, Coimbatore, with the opening of a new information technology center there in late summer.

Perot Systems, a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions, has operated facilities in India for the past 10 years, continuously expanding in Bangalore, Noida and Chennai.

Perot Systems' President and CEO Peter Altabef made the announcement at the company's Business Process Solutions center in Chennai. Perot Systems' Coimbatore operations will initially handle expansion business from the company's worldwide BPO operations in a new 20,000-square-foot, two-story structure that will accommodate approximately 375 seats across three shifts at its opening, bringing the company's total India-based employees to more than 5,000.

Talking about the expansion Mr. Altabef said, "Our new facility in Coimbatore will help us meet growing client demand worldwide for efficient delivery of the high-quality services produced by Perot Systems associates in India. Perot Systems continues to grow and gain the reputation as the most trusted provider of services in the information technology industry. Our expansion in India is an important part of that growth."

Perot Systems' growth in 2005 was highlighted by the company's launch of its infrastructure operations in Noida and Bangalore in December to complement its expanding applications and BPO demand.

Talking about the significance and momentum of today's announcement, Padma Ravichander, Managing Director of the company's global Consulting & Applications Solutions division and senior executive for Perot Systems in India and Asia-Pacific, said, "Our expansion into a fourth city in India is not only a sign of continuing growth and success for Perot Systems, but it is also an important promise kept on our commitment to India and the talented IT services professionals here. Today's announcement is another signal to the vibrant IT services industry in the Asia-Pacific region and to our associates, from the ten-year veterans to the new hires, that India is important to Perot Systems and Perot Systems is important to India."

Details of the new Perot Systems facility in Coimbatore were presented at the news conference by Vardhman Jain, Managing Director of Perot Systems' Business Process Solutions operations in India. "Initially, services provided from the new facility will include processing highly complex and knowledge intensive, high-volume, high-value transactions for our healthcare, life insurance and F&A customers," Jain said. "The key to our long term success lies in the talent we hire throughout India, and we plan to take an aggressive recruitment posture at our Coimbatore facility by looking at a wider range of talent pools, colleges and universities present here and across the country to find the best of the best. In addition, training will be best in class for business process services as well as for career development in project management and global leadership."

Perot Systems also noted that the announced expansion to Coimbatore held strategic significance for the company's global delivery strategy, as evidenced by the presence at the news conference of the company's chief strategist and chairman of consulting, James Champy.

"The strategic placement of our facilities around the world and how well we train and interconnect our employees is much more crucial to delivering trusted quality services than simply having huge numbers of people on the payroll," Champy said. "Coimbatore will play a very important role in our continued success in India and the world."

The India business process outsourcing team at Perot Systems serves more than 60 clients worldwide and employs around 1,900 associates in India.
