Thomson Financial, an operating unit of The Thomson Corporation (TSX: TOC, NYSE: TOC), and leading provider of information and technology solutions to the worldwide financial community, today announced that it has signed a contract with HAL Investments B.V., a Dutch investment fund, to deploy Thomson ONE Investment Management.

Thomson Financial was awarded the contract in a competitive pitch because it was the only vendor able to satisfy HAL Investments complete market data requirements. Under the terms of the three year contract, Thomson Financial will deploy 20 positions of the Thomson ONE Investment Management application framework to key functions with HAL Investments, from investment managers to associates and management team.

Head of Information Research Department at HAL Investments commented: "This agreement is a natural evolution to our longstanding relationship with Thomson Financial, which spans over 10 years. The seamless integration of the full breadth of Thomson Financial's content alongside relevant functionality drove our decision to select Thomson ONE Investment Management to consolidate our content requirements. All users can access the solution at the desktop and we are confident Thomson ONE will help improve our performance."

Thomson ONE Investment Management combines Thomson Datastream's encyclopaedic databases with Thomson Financial's interactive portfolio analytics service, in addition to Thomson Financial's global real-time market data and news, and extensive estimates, research and fundamental content.

Richard Garnier, European Managing Director of Sales, Thomson Financial commented: "We are pleased that HAL Investments selected Thomson ONE. HAL Investments has relied on individual Thomson products like Datastream, Thomson ONE Analytics and Thomson Research for many years. The consolidation and upgrade to Thomson ONE Investment Management will have a tangible impact in helping their users improve productivity and efficiency."

Thomson ONE Investment Management has been built around investment management workflows. The open application framework reflects and facilitates many different functions, from uncovering opportunities and evaluating market trends to understanding and communicating sources of portfolio performance. Interactive functionality gives quick and easy access to in-depth content across the available data universe, making it easy to move between key data sets and analytic or charting tools, while maintaining context on a particular company. Users can easily navigate from monitoring a ticker in real-time to viewing the company's broker estimates or charting its historical time series versus the sector or market.

The package contains the full breadth and depth of Thomson Datastream's financial and economics databases, as well as its full set of charting and Microsoft Office interface tools. It also allows users to access industry leading portfolio analytics, which provides performance attribution and portfolio profiling. The intuitive, graphical format enables drill-down access to a portfolio and identifies exceptions that require further research.
