SEEC, Inc. (OTC:SEEC), the leading provider of Business Component Software for the insurance and financial services industries, today announced a partnership with FileNet, Inc. (NASDAQ:FILE), the leading provider of Enterprise Content Management (ECM) and Business Process Management (BPM) solutions.

As part of the alliance, SEEC has joined FileNet's ValueNet program, and will begin offering its SOA components integrated with FileNet's P8 Business Process Manager.

"We are pleased that SEEC is joining the ValueNet program," said Martyn Christian, chief marketing officer of FileNet. "SEEC's pre-built, ACORD-standard Business Components open up a vast library of customer-centric functionality that insurance carriers can assemble in a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) to transform mission-critical sales, service and operating processes. Integrated with FileNet, the combined solution offers FileNet customers a compelling way to leverage and extend their BPM initiatives."

SEEC will begin offering Business Components with pre-built connectors that integrate with FileNet's BPM solutions, coupled with integration services to ensure SEEC's Business Components are implemented successfully for FileNet customers. SEEC will be an application developer under FileNet's ValueNet program. In addition, SEEC and FileNet will coordinate sales and marketing activities to demonstrate the value of the combined solution to customers.

"SEEC's Business Component Software offers an architectural approach that turns enterprise assets into well-defined services that can be leveraged across FileNet's world-class P8 content management platform," said Shane Tulloch, SEEC's President and Chief Executive Officer. "FileNet has a leadership position within the Insurance and Financial Services, and their BPM solution fits hand-in-glove with our Business Component Software. Every FileNet customer who wants to boost ROI from their business process investments should examine this opportunity."

SEEC's Business Component Software enables insurance and financial services providers to gain competitive advantage by streamlining processes and adding new capabilities in a fraction of the time, cost and risk compared to custom development or buying packaged applications. SEEC's Business Components are:

  • Designed in a Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) to enable maximum re-use and flexibility
  • Built to industry standards (Java, XML, web-services) to avoid proprietary lock-in
  • Leverage existing investments in middleware, BPM solutions, and enterprise portals
  • Re-use legacy data and transactions, lowering risk and speeding time-to deployment
  • Can be deployed component-by-component in a planned, measured approach

"FileNet streamlines the business process and workflow while SEEC provides the services layer that enables insurance carriers to conduct web-based transactions. It's an attractive combination for customers," explained Ravi Koka, SEEC's Chief Technology Officer.
