TIBCO General Interface already features a mature visual AJAX development solution that offers more than 90 pre-built graphical user interface (GUI) controls on top of AJAX communication, data, publish and subscribe event services, logging, debugging and more. In addition, now developers will be able to leverage the capabilities of the Dojo Toolkit, Yahoo! User Interface components, Google Maps, Direct Web Remoting, and other AJAX libraries to provide easier, faster visual development of AJAX and RIA solutions.
"With our open architecture, we're addressing the needs of developers who want to include open source and commercial AJAX components in their applications," said Kevin Hakman, director, product marketing, TIBCO General Interface. "Now, users can mix and match components from multiple AJAX libraries with the ease-of-use and speed of TIBCO General Interface's visual layout, data management and communication tools."
The Dojo Toolkit will be the first in a series of third-party AJAX components for GUI, communication, and data access that will be made available to users of TIBCO General Interface later this year.
"We're very excited that developers can use TIBCO General Interface to include Dojo components," said Dylan Schiemann, co-founder of the Dojo Toolkit. "The outstanding visual development environment in General Interface significantly reduces the entry barrier for Dojo and AJAX development."
TIBCO is committed to providing developers with one of the most open and extensible AJAX and RIA frameworks. In an effort to deliver on this promise, TIBCO also recently announced that it joined OpenAjax, an open industry collaboration dedicated to developing and expanding the use of AJAX. TIBCO is working jointly with 27 other member companies to promote AJAX's promise of universal compatibility with any computer device, application, desktop or operating system.
TIBCO General Interface allows users to quickly build powerful browser-based applications with the look, feel and performance of desktop software. Unlike most Web development environments that require additional software such as plug-ins, Active-X controls or Java applets to be installed or added to the browser, TIBCO General Interface works with existing capabilities of the browser, enabling users to get a full-featured application instantly from a URL. The product offers a significantly reduced development time and cost through use of familiar application programming interfaces, visual authoring tools, step-through debugging and extensible, reusable components.
