Moneybase, a fintech subsidiary of Calamatta Cuschieri Finance Group - Malta’s largest independent financial services firm which pioneered the Maltese financial services industry in 1971, has launched Moneybase, a new digital payments app and card issuing platform using the award-winning payments platform, TranzAxis, from Compass Plus Technologies.

Moneybase is an easy-to-use platform designed to make money simple offering a wide range of services from payments to investments. All of its processes have been designed to be customer-oriented and fully digital, removing the need for customers to visit branches or fill in paperwork, enabling an account to be opened within minutes. The Moneybase app gives its users the ability to send and receive instant P2P payments; it also provides users with a personal IBAN, which enables them to make cross-border transfers to 36 countries across the European Union (SEPA payments) and gives them the opportunity to invest in over 20,000 Stocks, ETFs, Funds and Bonds.

Moneybase customers also save when using Moneybase cards thanks to competitive currency rates and multi-currency capabilities. Users also have full control of their cards, allowing them to view their card PIN and manage many other security settings, such as freezing a card or setting permissions on e-commerce transactions, swipe payments and ATM withdrawals, all from within the app. The in app 3DS2 technology also makes it easy to shop online with Moneybase - allowing customers to approve payments securely within the application itself.

The Moneybase card is offered as both a physical or a virtual card that can be generated instantly, throughout the whole of Europe, to anyone over 18 years of age. To launch its new offering Moneybase selected Compass Plus Technologies due to its ability to provide end-to-end support for its card issuing and processing services, as well as enable integration with Mastercard. The Moneybase offering is backed by 7 days a week ISO9001 certified human support.

Alan Cuschieri, co-CEO at Calamatta Cuschieri and founder of Moneybase, said: “Compass Plus Technologies are a key part of our solution, we worked very closely with a great team to achieve our vision of bringing Moneybase to life and making money simple for all our clients. We have enjoyed a positive experience with the TransAxis platform, which provides the necessary flexibility required by a Fintech, such as ourselves, and we plan to continue to build on this platform for future projects.”

Lee-Anne Higgins, European Account Director at Compass Plus Technologies, said: “When selecting a partner for this project, Moneybase sought-after a payments processor that could enable the instant issuance of its new range of premium cards, and wanted to find a technology vendor that shared the same ambitions to grow with them, as well as understand their future needs and address challenges. With over 30 years’ experience in the payments industry, we’ve been able to successfully guide Moneybase from the start of the project to launch date and going forward with a full support structure in place. Moneybase have great plans for the future of and we very much look forward to growing together as partners.”
