The Open Identity Exchange (OIX) is pleased to announce that Daon has joined the global OIX community to help drive positive developments towards a world where everyone can prove their identity and eligibility anywhere, through a simple universally trusted ID.

Daon, a global leader in cross channel identity and biometric solutions, has been at the forefront of developing methods for securely and conveniently combining identity and biometric capabilities across multiple channels for over 20 years.

OIX is a non-profit membership organisation that has influenced significant and positive developments to address some of the biggest challenges of building trust in online identity.

Joining a membership of active and engaged organisations from around the world, Daon will help play a vital role in the success of OIX’s work. Daon, whose clients include global organisations across banking, insurance, telcos, health, government, education and travel, will bring a wealth of expertise and knowledge to the OIX community.

Clive Bourke, Daon’s President of EMEA and APAC, said: “We are passionate about building faster, safer ways for people to connect with the services they love, and we believe that the OIX community is an essential forum where the identity industry can work together to solve the challenges preventing the growth of digital identity in the UK. Daon has been a pioneer of identity technology for the last 20 years, particularly in binding identity to a person rather than an ID, and we are looking forward to continuing that work with our fellow OIX members to help shape the future of the digital identity market.”

Nick Mothershaw, Chief Identity Strategist at OIX, said: “Daon supports some of the largest identity projects in the world and have played an essential role in moving the needle on identity and biometrics. The VeriFLY app means millions of individuals can prove they are covid safe to fly, so that airports continue to work efficiently whilst our health is protected. Their knowledge and achievement in the world of identity is impressive, which is why we are delighted to welcome Daon to our community of passionate members.”

OIX has 63 member organisations across various sectors, comprising of ID scheme operators, ID tech vendors, ID providers, consultancies, government and private sector. The executive board members include: Barclays, Deloitte, Equifax, International Airlines Group, LexisNexis, Microsoft, Sopra Steria and Timpson.
