With approximately 22 million customers, HBOS is the UK's largest mortgage and savings provider and the company's phenomenal growth has been reflected in the need for increased storage capability. HBOS opted to extend its main data centres, located in West Yorkshire, using Brocade's 4Gbit/sec technology for faster data transfer, greater scalability, backwards compatibility and enhanced security.

As a long-term Brocade customer, HBOS chose Brocade for this current project to ensure a smooth implementation and integration with both the existing storage infrastructure and with the latest 4Gbit/sec storage subsystems from HDS.

Simon Close, Storage Service Manager at HBOS said, "We selected Brocade following our positive experience with them in the past. Using a proven technology supplier for our mission-critical storage infrastructure was logical because it gave us access to cutting edge 4Gbit/sec technology with peace of mind that it would meet our requirements."

Paul Phillips, UK Country Manager at Brocade, said, "Many enterprises now have embraced 4Gbit/sec technology as part of their IT strategy and HBOS is an excellent example of how effectively this can be achieved."
