Ultimate Software (Nasdaq: ULTI), a leading provider of Web-based payroll and workforce management solutions, announced today that First Citizens Bank has selected Ultimate Software's UltiPro Workforce Management and UltiPro Time and Attendance through Intersourcing.
The parent company of First Citizens and its subsidiaries have approximately 4,800 employees working in 393 branches in 14 states. With a large distributed labor force, the bank began searching for an integrated, technologically advanced HR/payroll solution that includes comprehensive human resources, benefits, and payroll functionality with customizable reporting and Web self-service for employees and managers. Seeking a hosted application, First Citizens also wanted to enable its IT staff to focus on business-critical projects and systems rather than HRMS management. After an in-depth evaluation of possible solutions, the bank chose Intersourcing in February 2006.

First Citizens plans to provide additional online convenience to its managers and employees by delivering compensation history, performance evaluation records, details on employee benefits, and other facts they may need about themselves or the people they manage through Intersourcing. Since employees will be able to view and update information relevant to them on their own, First Citizens' HR team will be able to spend more time on strategic initiatives.
Besides giving HR more time, Intersourcing can release IT from the responsibilities associated with supporting HR systems because Ultimate Software undertakes the hardware management, software upgrades, version control, and backups for its Intersourcing customers. "Our upper-level management wants our IT resources dedicated to efforts that drive business development and customer service rather than to back-office solutions, and Ultimate Software's Intersourcing service model makes that possible for us," said Anderson.
