We develop contactless payment services to make transport as safe as possible for passengers. This is especially important during a pandemic. The demand for contactless payment in transport is growing every month, so by the end of 2022, we will equip all subway turnstiles with the ability to accept bank cards, – said Maksim Liksutov, the Deputy Mayor of Moscow for Transport.

In 2021, more than 92 million citizens passed through turnstiles of the metro with bank cards. Moreover, more than 50% of passengers buy tickets remotely, which is the safest and fastest way.

Passengers will be able to choose any turnstile and pay fare with whatever they prefer: Troika card, Virtual Troika, bank card or smartphone. This will increase the capacity of the turnstiles during peak hours to make travel even more convenient, – added the Deputy Mayor Makim Liksutov.

According to the Department of Transport, today the bank cards payments are available at 963 turnstiles in the metro. By the end of the year, 35 more will have the option. The average number of bank card payments at the turnstiles per day has more than doubled in 2021 – from 247 thousand in February to 523 thousand in September.
