The Bank of Israel’s Information Technology Department announced the completion of a project to establish a new data center at the Bank.

It was a very challenging project that has been successfully completed and implemented with the help of leading companies in Israel and abroad. The new data center is among the most advanced in Israel in various respects, including operational, security, and environmental aspects. In parallel with the launch of the new data center, the Information and Technology Department has adopted innovative technologies and architectures that are able to meet current and future challenges.

The data center was built to the Tier 4 standard, and is in the final stages of receiving official certification from the Uptime institute, following meticulous examinations of operational continuity. The facility is defined as fault tolerant, which enables continuous work even if one or more of the components fails, features autonomous work capability for a defined period under the FEMA earthquake resilience standard, and has the ability to undergo maintenance without affecting the IT system, based on green technologies that save energy.

Mr. Lior Georgi, Director of the Information Technology Department, said, “I would like to commend all those who worked on the establishment of the Bank’s new data center. The data center is expected to serve the Bank in the coming years, and will enable the Bank to be at the technological forefront compared with other central banks. Thousands of work hours were put into the planning and execution of the project, and hundreds of creative solutions were implemented in order to ensure that the Bank of Israel’s functional continuity is maintained and that the project is implemented without affecting the Bank’s ongoing activity. The completion of the project is a significant milestone in strengthening the central bank and the Israeli economy.”
