Dawn Capital (‘Dawn’), Europe’s leading specialist B2B software investor, is pleased to announce the promotion of Evgenia Plotnikova to General Partner, making her the youngest woman promoted internally to General Partner in Europe.

Having joined Dawn in March 2018 as Principal, Evgenia was promoted to Partner in December 2019, making her the firm’s first female partner. She leads SaaS deals, from early stage to pre-IPO and, together with her partners, manages the firm’s founder, VC and investor relationships across Europe and Israel.

Evgenia has an impressive track record, helping raise over $1bn for Dawn’s funds and driving significant value for Dawn’s LPs through her investment in some of Europe’s leading B2B companies, including:

● AI and machine learning company, Dataiku - first invested in $101m Series C, most recently participated in $400m Series E at $4.6bn valuation
● Next-generation cloud data warehouse, Firebolt - invested in $127m Series B
● Spend management automation platform, Soldo - co-led $61m Series B, most recently participated in $180m Series C
● No-code service automation platform, BRYTER - co-led $16m Series A, most recently investing in $66m Series B
● Cloud-based enterprise data exchange platform, Harbr - co-led $38.5m Series A
● Autonomous real-time cloud computing optimization platform, Granulate - invested in $30m Series B

Evgenia has over a decade’s investment experience across banking, growth private equity and early-stage venture capital. Prior to Dawn, Evgenia spent multiple years at Atomico, the pan-European VC, and TPG, the San Francisco PE giant with over $70bn AUM. She started her career at J.P. Morgan. Evgenia is a Forbes 30 Under 30 winner and a judge of its finance category, a TechStars mentor and one of Business Insider’s 100 Coolest People in Tech.

Norman Fiore, General Partner, at Dawn said: “Evgenia's founders are unanimous in stating that every day she brings tremendous value to their business through unparalleled market knowledge, deep networks and inexhaustible energy. When we founded Dawn nearly 15-years ago, our ambition was to attract individuals, like Evgenia, passionate about working with European companies, like Dataiku, Firebolt and Soldo, changing the global B2B landscape. On behalf of the entire Dawn team, I am delighted to welcome Evgenia into Dawn's Partnership, and as our second GP promoted internally, we remain true to our long-term commitment to hiring, developing and recognising exceptional talent.”

The promotion of Evgenia to General Partner is a testament to Dawn’s culture of nurturing and rewarding homegrown talent, with Dawn’s GP composition today being an equal split between Dawn’s founders and two internally promoted GPs. Evgenia’s new role also builds on Dawn’s long-standing commitment to building the preeminent investor for European B2B founders with global ambitions.

Following the recent promotion of Mina Mutafchieva, Dawn’s partnership includes two female partners out of five and maintains its 50:50 gender balance across its investment committee, investment team and full team.

Florian Douetteau, CEO & Co-founder at Dataiku, said: “Evgenia is the ultimate VC partner. Her passion and drive are infectious, and she’ll give everything she has to make something a success. I’m proud to say we have known each other for a long time and have a great working relationship. We share an appreciation of the need for data to drive everyday decisions and for this reason she has been a huge driver behind Dataiku’s journey and success to date.”

Michael Grupp, CEO & Co-founder at Bryter, said: “The word ‘hustle’ immediately springs to mind when I think of Evgenia. Her approach to her work is both unique and creative and it is those qualities that got her noticed by BRYTER as we raised our Series A last year. Investing is very personal, networks are essential, and everybody I’ve spoken to, whether in the US or Europe, speaks incredibly highly of Evgenia. She has been a huge asset to our business, bringing volumes of ideas, connections and support and we’re thrilled to see her well deserved promotion to General Partner.”

Evgenia Plotnikova, newly promoted General Partner at Dawn, said: “A job becomes a vocation when you get to do what you love in the company of people you consider family. I am privileged to have found that at Dawn. We are a collection of incredibly diverse individuals, united by a common purpose—partnering with exceptional founders who are building the next generation of software titans. At Dawn, talent is nurtured, opportunities to grow are tangible and success and hustle are actively rewarded. I am grateful for the mentorship and friendship of my colleagues and excited for the future that we will build together.”
