Intelligent Growth, the consulting company launched just under a year ago by Mike Hodgson and Roberto Rivero after leaving the London Stock Exchange, announced today their latest recruit – Ian Glencross.

"I first met Ian over 10 years ago when he was a client. I was really impressed with the efficiency of the operation at City Deal and the high levels of automation at Natwest," said Roberto Rivero, Founder of Intelligent Growth.

Mr Glencross joined Natwest Stockbrokers as Director of Settlements in 1987. Over two years he re-engineered the front and back office and increased the broker's order-processing capacity six-fold.

Later, as IT Director, he implemented many innovative IT solutions, including the City's first fully automated Order Management System – helping Natwest to become the UK's leading Retail Broker, both in volume and profitability.

After 9 years at Natwest Glencross moved to City Deal, as Chief Operating Officer. There he, once again, implemented many IT and operational changes that allowed the broker to multiply its trade processing capability and cut costs.

In 1998 Glencross co-founded Sharepeople and took the role of COO. Sharepeople was one of the UK's first e-brokers and was voted by Gomez as the number two Internet broker behind e-Trade.

In 2001, After American Express' acquisition of Sharepeople, Glencross moved into consulting. His assignments initially focused on advising brokers on IT, operational and outsourcing issues but have increasingly included the provision of commercial advice to software vendors and other companies wishing to supply services to that segment of the market.

"Intelligent Growth is planning to provide MiFID-related advice to brokers later this year and Ian will lead that effort. His hands-on experience will be invaluable in that context," continued Rivero.
