The Financial Services Technology Consortium (FSTC) today announced it has created a new standing committee whose mission is to focus on Enterprise Architecture issues that affect the entire spectrum of the financial services industry.
William J. Barr, a seasoned executive with over 30 years of experience developing technology solutions for financial institutions and other Fortune 500 companies has been named Managing Executive of this committee.
"Financial services organizations today all face the same technology challenges relating to enterprise architecture," said Dan Schutzer, Executive Director of FSTC. "Among them are: regulatory compliance, technology risk management, integrating emerging technologies, the linking of technology architecture to business issues, and managing the overall complexity of technology. The formation of this new standing committee is already generating considerable interest from both the institutions themselves and technology vendors of all types."
FSTC's Enterprise Architecture Standing Committee is a forum and vehicle to address common architecture issues as an industry-wide community rather than in a vacuum. Senior enterprise architects, technologists, financial-institution executives, and FSTC-member technology companies will network and collaborate around "hot button", "over the horizon" issues and best practices; learn through teleconferences and workshops; and formally conduct research projects.
"We are pleased that FSTC will be providing the industry with a forum in which we can share experiences and address many of the issues we are all dealing with on a daily basis," said Stewart Parbery, Senior Vice President, Transaction Services Architecture and Strategy, Bank of America.
"I am excited to be involved in this major effort bringing together financial institutions, technology vendors, and consulting organizations," said William Barr, Managing Executive of FSTC's Enterprise Architecture Standing Committee. "I am confident that my years of experience in the development and implementation of business and technology strategies will be an asset to this dynamic organization."
