Family money app, gohenry, has released a new Teen account and card today in a bid to up the independence stakes for its customers aged 13 to 18.

The Teen account builds on the existing gohenry app offer to give its 1 million plus members further financial freedom, along with a new sleek design for teen customers, who are offered the app upgrade when they turn 13.

Teens will be able to have a salary paid into the account from any employer and experience a fresh new look for the app and card. Teens will also have the ability to manage card security themselves with a block feature in case they lose their card, while parents can make use of gohenry’s additional controls to help their teens make the right money moves.

“We developed the Teen account to help young adults continue to learn good money management skills at a period when they are seeking more independence in all areas of life. The gohenry Teen account helps 13-18-year-olds with the transition into adulthood - offering more freedom and features to suit their growing independence, while still having the safety net of being guided by their parents, when needed” said Louise Hill, co-founder and COO of gohenry.

As part of its Teen account launch, gohenry has also announced a partnership with Student Beans to give members access to exclusive offers and discounts on a range of brands teens know and love.

“Having introduced our Eco Card - the first biodegradable debit card for kids - earlier this year, we’re continuing to build our business and expand our family finance offering with the launch of products such as our Teen account to meet the different needs of our members. This is just the first phase of our Teen launch, with additional features arriving in the coming months to help equip teens with money skills for life,” continued Louise.

The Teen account is available from 21 October 2020. It costs £2.99 per month, the same as any gohenry account, with a one-off cost of £4.99 for the matte black Teen card.
