Starting on August 1, Card Members have more ways to pay for the things they buy with the expansion of Pay It Plan It to its iconic U.S. Consumer Green, Gold and Platinum Cards, and Pay Over Time - already available on Green and Gold - to Platinum Cards. With the addition of these features, Card Members can choose to create monthly payment plans with a fixed fee and no interest1, carry a monthly balance with interest or pay their bill in full.

With Pay It Plan It and Pay Over Time features, American Express Green, Gold and Platinum Cards Members now have more ways to pay for purchases both big and small, all accessible from the American Express mobile app. In addition to these new payment options, with no preset spending limit, Card Members will still have purchasing power that adapts based on factors such as purchase, payment and credit history. Card Members can continue to enjoy rich rewards and lifestyle benefits and take advantage of new offers that align with their evolving needs.

PAY IT PLAN IT

Pay It Plan It is a feature that is built into most American Express U.S. Consumer Cards:

Pay It lets Card Members tap the Amex mobile app to quickly pay for small purchase amounts, under $100, throughout the month.
Plan It lets Card Members split up larger purchases of $100 or more into equal monthly payments with a fixed fee and no interest1. Card Members know upfront exactly how much they’ll pay each month. Card Members do not have to apply for a Plan; they simply click on an eligible purchase in the American Express mobile app, or on their online account at AmericanExpress.com, and choose to “Plan It.” Card Members still earn rewards the same way they would for other purchases.

Since its launch in 2017, Card Members have created nearly five million Plans, totaling nearly $4 billion. Pay It Plan It has become a popular tool for many Card Members, with Millennial and Gen Z making up 44 percent of Plans created. The average Plan size is approximately $789. Card Members who have used Plan It have created, on average, four plans.
