On June 22, ICBC, the world’s largest bank by assets, became one of the first banks in China to leverage Alipay’s livestreaming feature to better engage with mobile-savvy users.

ICBC’s first livestream show on Alipay, which focused on ways to identify and report financial fraud and wealth management education, attracted over 620,000 viewers in less than one hour.

“Wherever the customers are, the bank's services will follow. The new livestreaming feature on the Alipay digital lifestyle platform enables us to more directly engage and interact with our customers,” said Shen Jie, Advisor of ICBC Hangzhou Wealth Center and the host of ICBC’s livestream shows on Alipay. “ICBC will continue to actively embrace digital solutions to strengthen investment education and better serve our users.”

In May, Burger King became one of the first service providers in the dining sector to leverage Alipay’s livestreaming feature. Its first Alipay livestream show attracted over 180,000 viewers, with more than half of them collecting digital coupons and over 10,000 joining membership programs immediately after the session. In addition to livestreaming, Burger King has already integrated a suite of digital solutions provided by Alipay to increase customer engagement and operational efficiency, including in-store mobile payment solutions, mini programs for food ordering, delivery and consumer retention, and Alipay’s Easy Membership.
