BIS staff member confirmed with Covid-19 in Basel

The Bank for International Settlements confirms that a member of staff working at its Basel headquarters has tested positive for Covid-19.

The staff member is receiving medical treatment and is currently recovering at home. We wish our colleague a quick and full recovery.

The BIS has identified nine staff members who had been working in close proximity with the staff member. As a precaution, these colleagues will work from home temporarily.

The health and safety of all our staff and community is of paramount importance. To ensure their protection, the BIS had already taken preventative action at its headquarters.

Since the start of March, all physical meetings due to take place at BIS premises until the end of April have been cancelled or rescheduled and business travel has been cancelled or postponed. Where necessary, essential meetings are being held via teleconference. Almost all staff are working from home as appropriate. The BIS also has rigorous business continuity measures in place to ensure that it can maintain its normal operations.
