Mr Matti Viljo has been appointed TietoEnator's Senior Vice President and President of the Banking & Insurance business area with effect from 1 April 2006.
Matti Viljo will be a member of the Corporate Management Team and Development Management Team and will report to Mr Pentti Heikkinen, the President and CEO of TietoEnator.
Matti Viljo (50) was born in Pertunmaa, Finland and holds an M.Sc. degree in Economics. He has extensive work experience in senior management positions in the IT industry both with IBM and Oracle. He is currently working for Oracle Corporation in Munich as Vice President, Application Sales Business Unit and is a member of Oracle EMEA Management Team.
Pentti Heikkinen says: "TietoEnator's Banking & Insurance business area has over 400 customers worldwide and has recently closed new contracts in the core banking area. We are now growing strongly outside our traditional home market in Europe, in areas including the UK, Germany and Benelux. Matti Viljo's experience in international solutions and services companies fits perfectly with this phase of TietoEnator's internationalization."
Matti Viljo says: "After working for a long time with IBM and Oracle, I am thrilled and extremely motivated about this opportunity to join TietoEnator as the head of the Banking & Insurance business area. A lot of excellent job has been done during the last couple of years to re-shape the business for future internationalization and growth. The first steps have been taken and now it is time to speed up. At the same time, we need to take very good care of our home market and key customers in the Nordic countries. I am really looking forward to work with TietoEnator."
The current President of Banking & Insurance, Mr Jukka Rosenberg, had decided to resign at his own request. Pentti Heikkinen says further: "I also want to express my thanks to Jukka Rosenberg for his excellent contribution to TietoEnator during the past nine years".
Ms Ulla Lilja Berg, Senior Vice President in Banking & Insurance, has been appointed acting president of Banking & Insurance until the end of March.
