Temenos, the leading global banking software company, is pleased to announce the appointment of Michelle Tea as the Managing Director for Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands.

Michelle brings more than 25 years of experience in the technology and software sector with significant expertise in leading digital transformations.

Michelle joins Temenos from Microsoft Australia, where she was the Director of Digital Strategy and Services. Prior to that, she held senior executive roles at Dimension Data, NetReturn and JTec. Michelle currently sits on the board of Australian Science Innovations.

This announcement comes on the back of strong momentum in Australia and New Zealand for Temenos. In the last 18 months, Temenos has seen great success with incumbent banks such as TSB which went live on Temenos Infinity for digital onboarding in just nine weeks as well as neobanks such as Judo Bank and Volt Bank, which both went live in record time. The latter represent an increased movement in the region from on-premise to cloud-hosting, in order to increase scalability, agility and resilience.

Martin Frick, Managing Director - APAC, said: “Australia and New Zealand are major growth markets for Temenos and our recent acquisitions of Avoka and Kony have enabled us to accelerate the expansion of our presence in this region. In particular the pace of regulatory change has opened up significant opportunities in the retail and SME banking as well as the wealth management space. Financial institutions are seeking more efficient ways to manage clients and reduce operational costs - such as digital channels to enable self-service and automated tools to accelerate onboarding of new clients. Michelle is an excellent appointment to lead our business in the region and build on our growth and momentum. Her commercial acumen, digital knowledge and leadership prowess are a perfect fit to enable us to deliver on our growth strategy.”

Commenting on her appointment, Michelle Tea said: “I am delighted to join the talented team at Temenos at such an exciting time in the company’s growth trajectory. As more and more Australian and New Zealand financial institutions and fintechs look to digitize their platforms and provide more intuitive services, Temenos’ world-leading cloud-native, customer-agnostic, open and secure banking technology has never been more valuable.”

Michelle will commence her role with immediate effect and will be part of the Asia-Pacific executive leadership team.
