The cooperative Migros Genève and b-sharpe SA, a key Swiss player in online currency exchange offering preferential rates, have today announced the signing of a strategic and financial partnership.

This alliance, the first of its kind in Switzerland, opens up new opportunities for the two companies who, as they roll out the b-sharpe solution, are looking to respond to the current and future challenges of the currency exchange market. Highly valued by more than 13,000 clients in Romandy, the platform has, to this day, processed over 1 billion Swiss Francs worth of transactions.

Strengthened by a shared vision, Migros Genève and b-sharpe believed in the powerful synergies bringing together the historic and well-established activity of one company and the digital skills and expertise of the other. In becoming a significant shareholder in b-sharpe, Migros Genève aims to provide it with the resources for its technological and commercial development, while helping to reinforce its credibility and visibility among consumers. The b-sharpe platform will allow Migros Genève to benefit from the digital development of a key Swiss player.

‘We are delighted to partner with Migros, with whom we share values such as customer orientation, local roots as well as a joint vision for the future digitalisation of currency exchange,’ welcomed Jean-Marc Sabet, CEO and founder of b-sharpe. He went on to add: ‘This significant equity investment by a key player such as Migros Genève on the one hand confirms our positioning and on the other our development potential.’

In turn, Didier Eicher, Director of Development at the cooperative Migros Genève and member of the executive committee, reaffirmed the strategic nature of this investment: ‘The b-sharpe solution perfectly complements our existing offer in paper currency exchange and reflects our desire to provide the most efficient and cutting-edge services to our clientele of individuals and businesses.’

Pricing and client satisfaction
Thanks to this robust partnership, b-sharpe can now deploy its strategy that aims to meet the ever more specific needs of users who are not only looking for competitive exchange rates, but also transparency and, in particular, high-quality and attentive customer service. With a solution aimed at SMEs and individuals regularly carrying out multi-currency exchanges, b-sharpe is accelerating its growth and technological development, capitalising on local roots and the high quality of its customer service based in the centre of Geneva. ‘It’s about offering a premium service to clients who are looking for personalised, human interaction, the opposite of what is provided by other online players on the market, who are generally limited to anonymous call centres,’ specified Jean-Marc Sabet.
