Invstr, the leading investing app educating the next generation of investors, announces the 25 shortlisted submissions of its Stock Market Tracks competition, which launched to educate and empower youth on financial literacy through the popular medium of rap music.

The winner of the competition, who will receive a $1,000 cash prize, will be announced next month. To listen to all shortlisted tracks, visit Stock Market Tracks’ Instagram page, @StockMarketTracks.

Studies have found that there remains a divide between white and ethnic minority investors - in the US, only 23 percent of African Americans aged 18 to 37 say that the stock market is the best place to put money they won't need for 10 years or more.

With this in mind, Invstr teamed up with STEAM16, a New York-based youth organization that encourages young people to embrace science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics through the popular “16 bars” in a rap verse. Invstr will reward the contest winner a $1,000 cash first prize for the best verse using investment terms in an engaging and creative way. The tracks submitted focused on a diverse range of investing topics such as “Stock, Shares and Sectors”, “HODL, FOMO, and FUD” and “Market Capitalization.”

“We’re incredibly impressed by the creativity and quality of the submissions that we received,” said Kerim Derhalli, Founder and CEO. “Invstr’s vision has always been to educate the next generation of investors. Too many people are held back from investing due to a lack of knowledge and a lack of confidence. Music is an ideal way for young people to learn about investing, and we’re proud to be a part of facilitating investing education for all.”

“The stock market has been a wealth-building tool for over a century. We set out for the competition to encourage new audiences to familiarise themselves with concepts surrounding the stock market through the powerful language of hip hop,” said Ron Livingston, Founder and CEO, STEAM16. “We’re pleased to wrap up the competition with such a successful first run.”

Invstr’s Fantasy Finance has attracted over 350,000 users, 87% of which fall under the Millennial and Gen Z age groups, and has been featured by Apple in the App Store under “New Apps We Love.”
